Covid and Flu Vaccinations

Message to patients

This year, Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has announced that both vaccines will be available to everyone over 50, so that all people in Wales at greatest risk from flu or COVID-19 will be eligible for vaccines protecting them against both winter respiratory viruses. Those who are under 50 with certain conditions will also be invited for both vaccinations.

JCVI encourages to have the flu and covid vaccination together when possible, and that it is safe to do so.

So we have made arrangements for every eligible patient to be offered the flu and covid vaccinations at the same time. You can also choose to have either vaccine only. Patients who need clarification on the same can email reception.w94609@wales.nhs.uk .

Date and Venue: The vaccination clinic will commence on 26th September 2022. The venue will be Llys Meddyg surgery, Victoria Road, Penygroes.

Invitations: All patients will receive letters of invitation from the Welsh government, according to the priority groups set out by the government. All those who receive their covid letters can by default received their flu jabs at the same time, although it will not be explicitly mentioned in the letter of invite.

Priority groups:

NHS has plans in place to offer a COVID-19 and flu autumn booster to the following adults in line with JCVI advice:

  • residents and staff working in care homes for older adults
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • all adults aged 50 years and over
  • persons aged 5 to 49 years in a clinical risk group, including pregnant women
  • persons aged 5 to 49 years who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression, as defined in the Green Book
  • persons aged 16 to 49 who are carers

Updating contact details: Please make sure that the mobile numbers for all patients are current, as we might send out invites or changes to the schedule during emergencies.

Co-administration of Flu and Covid vaccination :

Please find below the link from government website, that encourages patients to receive flu and COVID vaccination together. It explains how it provides more protection and convenience in one appointment, for patients. This will also be mentioned on the appointment letter invites sent out by the health board to patients. Kindly do not hesitate to contact us for further clarification.
